Tomorrow is the last day of the year, and also my last day of work for a month. It's a long story as to why I am off for another month, but I'm planning on using the time wisely - well that is the plan anyway!
So here's my plan - I'm writing it down here so that I might actually stand a chance of sticking to it:
- Week 1 - Spending some quality time with the kids before they go back to kindy (especially my son as he starts big school at the end of the month). Tidy the office and finally get my Tax done (I know - I am horrendously late)
- Week 2 - For the first time a while, I'm going to spend some time working on http://shareyourlove.com, the infrastructure it runs on is in need of some love and I might give some serious thought to our book idea again (probably a http://lulu.com job or similar). I also hope to break-open the seal on the Arduino kit and get hacking - but let's see how far I get with that.
- Week 3 - Off to Sydney for serious F2F networking and catching up with the old buddies. Meeting up with some interesting people (recording a few codingbynumbers shows sans Craig) and I'm going to take in a few meetups while I'm there. It's happens to be the 10th anniversary of the folding of a startup called GSTPay that I worked for when I first came to Australia, hoping to have a bit of a reunion with some of the folks from there. I've also moved my flight on the Friday so I can go to Silicon Beach drinks - so I hope someone turns up!
- Week 4 - Linux Conf in Brisbane. I love this conference and I'm so excited to be there again. I have a talk in the Open Programming miniconf, hope to also do a lightning talk and planning a JVM BOF (again - I hope someone turns up!)
Well there it is, another big break and I'm hoping to catch up with people and do some of the things I don't get to do due to 9-5 job. If you feel like meeting up, feel free to drop me a mail (steve at refactor dot com dot au) or msg me on twitter. I'm particularly keen to speak to people with interesting coding topics for the podcast.
